Congratulations are due to Savile Row Bespoke Association (SRBA) founding member Dege & Skinner, which is celebrating its 150th year as a bespoke tailoring house.
Founded in 1865 and now one of only two family-owned bespoke tailoring houses on the Row (Henry Poole & Co being the other), Dege - as it is fondly known in our close-knit community - occupies a special place amongst our ranks.
Dege & Skinner has enjoyed a renowned reputation for its military and ceremonial tailoring throughout its long history and the current Chairman Michael Skinner was present at the Queen’s Coronation in 1953 when, astonishingly, the esteemed house transported its entire cutting room, showroom and full complement of backroom staff to dress the peers of the realm for the occasion.
In addition to a St George’s day party for its customers and dignitaries, which it is holding in association with SRBA partners Chivas, Dege is marking its anniversary with the launch of the Anniversary Collection of stunning classic cloths - woven in Yorkshire and Scotland and with colour-ways inspired by the Skinner family’s long professional association with the British countryside - and accessories, which includes ties and cufflinks featuring its famous Charlie the fox logo.
Commenting on the anniversary, Managing Director William Skinner said: “2015 marks our 150th anniversary as a bespoke tailor of civilian and military clothing and the launch of our special Anniversary Collection gives us the chance to share this important milestone with our customers here in the UK and further afield.”
