As you can see from these pictures, we have been busy packing for a very special exhibition we are presenting in Washington DC in May! The show will be hosted by His Excellency, Sir Peter Westmacott, British Ambassador to the United States of America on 13/14 May at the exquisite Lutyen’s designed Ambassador’s residence.
Entitled Savile Row and America, a Sartorial Special Relationship, the exhibition follows on from those the Savile Row Bespoke Association has previously presented in Florence, Paris and Tokyo and charts the long-standing, inimitable connection between Savile Row and the United States.
Over 70 outfits and 175 ledgers, props, documents, patterns and photographs are curated under the guidance of Nick Foulkes, to tell a story of the Row’s unique transatlantic relationships old and new, with names ranging from Buffalo Bill, Junius Spencer Morgan, William Randolph Hearst and Gregory Peck through to luminaries of today that include Madonna, Henry Kissinger and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Savile Row Bespoke Association members Alexander McQueen, Davies & Son, Dege & Skinner, Gieves & Hawkes, Henry Poole & Co, Huntsman, Kent, Haste & Lachter, Kilgour, Meyer & Mortimer and Welsh & Jefferies will be contributing to proceedings along with associate members Dormeuil, Edward Sexton, Harrisons and Lutwyche.
The Savile Row Bespoke Cut and the American Gentleman is being made possible by the generous support of Bentley, Huntsman, Graff, The Macallan, GREAT, Sir Peter and Lady Westmacott and Melinda Goforth from UKTI.
Full details will be released next month.
