Richard James OBE

Congratulations from everyone at the Savile Row Bespoke Association (SRBA) go to Richard James, who was awarded an OBE for services to fashion in the 2018 New Years Honours list.

Richard received his OBE from the Duke of Cambridge (pictured) at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Friday.

Richard founded the tailoring house that bears his name with his business partner Sean Dixon on Savile Row in 1992 and it became a member of the SRBA in 2004.

Richard James has always been committed to maintaining the craft and tradition of bespoke Savile Row tailoring, but it is apt that Richard’s OBE was awarded for services to fashion as his contemporary approach has done much to establish the Row’s modern-day status as a world centre of men’s style.

This unique approach, encompassing ready-to-wear collections and bespoke tailoring, has also been recognised by the British Fashion Council, which has awarded Richard James both the Menswear Designer of the Year and Bespoke Designer of the Year awards.

Maintaining its pioneering way of doing things, Richard James will open its first store in New York, complete with bespoke tailoring, in the spring.
