Beatles’ Blue Plaque

Taking a break from preparations for Brexit, we are very pleased to report that a blue plaque to commemorate the final live performance of The Beatles has been mounted on the façade of no. 3 Savile Row.

The Beatles performed live for the last time on the roof of the building, which was the headquarters of their own Apple Records, fifty years ago this year, on 30th January 1969.

Westminster Council granted permission for the plaque, which was unveiled on 5th April. Those present included British GQ editor Dylan Jones, actor Bill Nighy and David Rosen of the Savile Row estate agency Pilcher Hershman, whose idea the project was.

The Beatles were keen supporters of bespoke Savile Row tailoring and Row legend Tommy Nutter famously dressed Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Ringo Starr (George Harrison chose to wear jeans) for the iconic cover of the 1969 Abbey Road album.
