Thursday 21st October was a very good day for the future of bespoke tailoring on Savile Row with another five great tailoring talents passing their Savile Row Bespoke Association (SRBA) Diploma assessment.
Congratulations to everyone at the SRBA go to the following:
Jon Clifford Pickering – Coatmaker at Dege & Skinner
Ogulcan Dugunyurdu – Coatmaker at Huntsman
India Heaversedge – Coatmaker at Huntsman
Oliver Spencer – Cutter at Gieves & Hawkes
Lisa Tang – Coatmaker at Gieves & Hawkes
The SRBA Diploma apprenticeship scheme was founded in 2004 with the singular objective of training the talent to ensure the future of bespoke tailoring on Savile Row. To date, eighty-seven young people have completed apprenticeships with SRBA members. This year’s assessments were re-scheduled from last year due to the pandemic, and the successful apprentices will be awarded their diplomas at a ceremony in December.
The SRBA would like to thank this year’s judges, who were:
Gordon Alsleben – Former Head Cutter at Huntsman (pictured, left)
Jo Morgan – Head Cutter and co-founder of Chittleborough & Morgan (pictured, centre and below)
Philip Parker – Former Head Cutter at Henry Poole & Co
Su Thomas – Director and Chair of the SRBA
Tristan Thorne – Senior Cutter at Dege & Skinner (pictured, right)
And we would also like to thank Hackett for hosting the assessment day in their historic and elegant premises at 14 Savile Row.
