The future of bespoke tailoring on Savile Row was further strengthened on Friday when two more talented young people received their Savile Row Bespoke diplomas.
Charlie Button of Henry Poole & Co and Zsanett Meszoros of Gieves & Hawkes (pictured together, top, and with William Skinner, Managing Director of Dege & Skinner and Director of the Savile Row Bespoke Association [SRBA], and Philip Parker, formerly of Henry Poole) were awarded their diplomas for cutting and coat making, respectively, at the annual British Tailors’ Benevolent Association (BTBA) summer party at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall. Tailors, suppliers, cloth merchants and industry friends and supporters gathered for a wonderful evening in support of an extremely worthwhile cause.
The SRBA diploma scheme was set up in 2004 to offer young people the opportunity to train at the hands of true tailoring masters, and safeguard the future of bespoke tailoring on our street. Charlie and Zsanett are the ninetieth and ninety-first graduates, and we look forward to welcoming more apprentices and newly qualified craftspeople to our community in the future.
Sincere thanks from everyone at the SRBA go to this year’s assessors, who were Philip Parker (former Head Cutter at Henry Poole & Co), Gordon Alsleben (former Head Cutter at Huntsman), and Su Thomas (former Director of the SRBA).
