A special addition has been made to the window at Anderson & Sheppard.

The work of the esteemed gilders by Royal appointment Hare & Humphreys, the three beautifully executed feathers and the words BY APPOINTMENT TO HRH THE PRINCE OF WALES serve as HRH Prince Charles’ warrant and signify the sterling service that SRBA founder member Anderson & Sheppard has undertaken for His Royal Highness.

Mr Les Edge (pictured) of Hare & Humphreys undertook the work, which took a week to complete and attracted a constant throng of onlookers. It proved a tricky job due to limited access and the relatively small, discreet size of the lettering.

HRH Prince Charles has long been rightly celebrated for his great sense of style and Anderson & Sheppard has served as his tailor for more than twenty years.  His Royal Highness is a great supporter of bespoke Savile Row tailoring and takes a particular interest in our unique community’s apprenticeship schemes, which act to preserve and promote the art of the best bespoke tailoring in the world.

Last year, His Royal Highness paid a visit to Anderson & Sheppard where he was received by the house’s directors and shareholders Anda Rowland and John Hitchcock (who as Anderson & Sheppard’s Head Cutter normally attends to His Royal Highness’ needs at Clarence House) before memorably taking the time to meet every member of staff, including each of the apprentice cutters and tailors.

His Royal Highness was particularly amused to discover that, in truly discreet Savile Row fashion, his original set of measures were designated as belonging to Mr Charles Smith.
