Founding Savile Row Bespoke Association (SRBA) member Henry Poole & Co has got together with Land Rover’s Design Officer Prof Gerry McGovern OBE to create a suitably innovative jacket fabric to celebrate 50 years of the Range Rover.
The cloth, a new twist on a classic dog-tooth check, has been woven in Somerset by Fox Brothers and is inspired by the original Tuscan Blue, Bahama Gold and Davos White exterior paint colours of the original 1970 Range Rover. Just 120 metres of the cloth has been produced, which is sufficient for Henry Poole to make fifty bespoke jackets to commemorate Range Rover’s half century.
The same paint colours are also available on the new Range Rover Fifty, which was unveiled in June. And for those wanting to acquire a real piece of motoring history, the recently launched Range Rover Reborn programme offers a unique opportunity to acquire a highly collectible original 1970s Range Rover.
Prof Gerry McGovern OBE, Land Rover’s Chief Creative Officer (pictured top, left, with Henry Poole Managing Director Simon Cundey), said: “Both Henry Poole and Range Rover have a unique heritage and the ability to create highly desirable products. The exclusivity of both the Henry Poole jacket and the Range Rover Fifty edition make it a rarity which is something that appeals to both Henry Poole and Range Rover customers.”
Simon Cundey, Henry Poole & Co MD, said: “It has been a fantastic opportunity to work with Gerry McGovern and develop a jacket to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Range Rover. The cloth has been inspired by a heritage colourway featuring a Tuscan Blue lining and Bahama Gold under-collar, yet designed to have a modern casual twist, which can also be worn with timeless elegance. The comfort that comes with Henry Poole pure bespoke completes the pinnacle of Savile Row tailoring.
“The Range Rover x Henry Poole & Co collaboration works so well as both brands have traditional roots, yet with a modern approach that offers the very best in quality and luxury.”
