2025 Golden Shears Competition

The 2025 Golden Shears competition is now open for applications.

Known as the Oscars of the tailoring world, the biennial competition is open to bespoke tailoring students and apprentices throughout the UK. The submitted work is judged by a panel of leading bespoke tailors and cutters which awards marks for technical skill and, ultimately, by a guest panel which considers the style and aesthetic merit of each entry.

Applicants should return a completed entry form to the Merchant Taylors’ Company, which hosts the awards ceremony at the splendid Merchant Taylors’ Hall in the City of London. It is also suggested that applicants read the competition rules in full before entering.

The deadline for applications is midnight Wednesday 30th October 2024, with entries to be submitted between 6th January and 8th January 2025.

The judging stages will take place in January and March 2025, and the final will take place on Monday 17th March 2025.

This year’s Golden Shears competition will again be chaired by Simon Cundey, the Managing Director of founding Savile Row Bespoke Association (SRBA) member Henry Poole & Co.
